Sidhe Forum Rules

All rules refer to any use of the forum system, including posting messages to forums, sending private messages and utilizing the email utilities or other forum functions. A good rule to live by, to keep things simple, is "If in doubt, leave it out.". If you think your message or use of the system might be borderline, stop right there - don't do it.

If you spot something you believe is innapropriate or infringes on the forum rules, please use the "report" functionality - this alerts admins and moderators and allows a much quicker reaction time than would otherwise be possible.

• First and foremost, all Sidhe forums (including but not limited to RugbyLeague2, Horse Racing, Gripshift and General forums) are intended and policed as family-friendly environments. Any harassment, innapropriate behaviour (or content), adult themes or similarly innapropriate posting is not welcome - please don't waste our time or yours by posting in this way.

• These rules explicitly extend to the Private Message system - do not assume that just because your message isn't publically visible that it is beyond the reach (and by extension, the rules) of the administrators. Likewise if you have concerns about a user's behaviour within the PM system, use the complaint system to bring it to the attention of an administrator.

• Sidhe Interactive reserves the right to change these rules at our discretion at any time.

• The webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic or ban any user at any time should they see fit. If you disagree with the actions taken by a moderator or administrator, please utilize the private messaging (PM) system to discuss that action - either with the administrator / mod in question or another administrator or moderator. Threads or posts enquiring as to admin activity, enquiring about or commenting on deleted threads or posts, or requesting the lifting of user bans are not appropriate.

• Spreading misinformation about Sidhe Interactive or Sidhe Interactive products is strictly prohibited.

• Only one account / username may be created by any one person. Creating multiple accounts / personalities is strictly prohibited. Any user found creating additional accounts (particularly but not limited to users who have been banned) run the risk of temporary or even permanent banning of any and all accounts, at the discretion of the administrator or moderator(s) involved.

• Sharing or gifting of accounts is not permitted. Users found to be sharing or gifting accounts will face bans in the same manner as those creating multiple accounts.

• It is a requirement of the forums that your posts be of a minimum length - if your post is under this length, it is likely that it's contents is either of limited utility or interest to other forum users (posts like "lol" or "nup", etc, merely consume space - they don't actively contribute). If you are finding that your post will not be processed by the forum due to not hitting this minimum length, please reconsider whether your post is actually worth posting in the first place.

• If you are replying to a post (particularly a long one, or one containing images) and feel the need to include a quote, consider including only the relevant portion you are replying to, rather than the entire thing. If you don't know how to do this, don't use the quote system - people can simply scroll up to view the post, rather than scrolling past the entire thing potentially several times.

• When posting, please consider the sub-forum that you are posting to. A discussion about your favorite movie is completely innappropriate, for example, in the Gripshift Track Building forum - yet that same thread is perfectly suitable for the Off-Topic forum.

• Bumping threads (posting purely to bring the thread back up to the top of the forum) is completely prohibited. Posting in a way which is obviously bumping will get that post deleted and possibly the thread itself closed or deleted. If the forumers at large don't care enough to post, let it go.

• "Dredging" (digging up threads from the ancient past) is not allowed. Unless you have a valid reason to do so (i.e. the topic of the original thread is suddenly news again or you have another, reasonable, reason), any dredging will likely result in that post's deletion and possibly account suspension.

• "Spamming" (this includes but is not limited to posting purely to increase your post count, advertising websites / products or services without permission, posting one-word (or similar) replies to topics, etc) is strictly prohibited. To discourage this kind of activity, discussing post counts or even referring to them offhand is also against the rules. Quality is more important than quantity. URLs / links that are considered to be spam may be added to the content filter, preventing anyone from ever posting them on our forums again.

• By and large, posts should be on-topic and not attempt to drag the conversation off on a tangent. Messages for whom the primary audience is just one person should be sent directly to that person via the PM system, rather than creating a new thread in a public discussion area or posting off-topic content to an existing and unrelated thread. It's innappropriate in our real-world environment to just start talking over the top of someone else and it's no less so here. Be considerate.

• Posting, attaching, or linking to abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, derogatory, sexist, sexually-explicit or any other material that may violate any applicable laws or good taste is strictly forbidden. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed).

• Posting product or service advertising is strictly prohibited, including advertising of products in competition to Sidhe Interactive software (discussion of competing products should only be undertaken in the context of making a comparison). Advertising or promoting competitors to Sidhe is prohibited.

• Discussion of illegally copied (pirated / "warez") software, music, movies or similar or how to obtain or otherwise gain access to such material is strictly prohibited. Even hinting at pirated material or the use of it is prohibited.

• Swearing and any attempt to bypass the forum swear-word filter is also forbidden, as is leveraging off the mechanic of the filter (or any other forum technology) in order to post material which you would otherwise be prevented or discouraged from doing.

• Posting messages on behalf of users who have been banned is forbidden. Once a user has been banned, they lose the right to contribute to the forum community.

• As a user you agree to any information you have entered being stored in a database. This includes (but is not limited to) posts, private messages and the details you entered when creating your account.

• The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. While this information (or any other personal information, such as the details you entered when creating your account) will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent under normal circumstances. This information may, however, be used in order to determine your identity should that be deemed necessary (typically when requested by Police or when making complaints of abuse with your ISP / internet access provider, such as a school or internet cafe). The webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt (or similar) which may lead to the data being compromised - all reasonable efforts are taken to protect against this eventuality.

• This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any personal information; they serve only to improve the forum usabilty and function.

• Please remember that while the administrators and moderators of the Sidhe forums will attempt to keep all objectionable messages and content off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of the Sidhe Forums, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.
