In case you haven't noticed (and judging by the thread views you haven't) I've found a little old game that I was curious to get more information on. Well, I did better than that, I got the game itself, and if you want a little more information, check out my website, I promise you, I'm not trying to get more hits by offering you guys phantom screenshots, I don't want you to sign up for some insider forum that lists off the information you already know, I'm just offering you a chance to play a rugby league game you probably didn't know existed!
So, if you've never been to my site before, I suggest you check it out, don't worry, it's not like the others, it's just run for the love of the game, not the web counter or the fame and glory of being an internet webmaster hero. Two years and counting now I've been going, and only now do I find this game! http://home.exetel.com.au/golsrugbyleagueonline/ The instructions on how you might acquire a copy of this game yourself are available there, and hopefully don't violate any forum rules here, since, well, I'd say it classifies as abandonware, but I don't want to get into the technicalities of it all. Feel free to use this thread to discuss how to play the damn game, help out those who may struggle with getting it to run, and just sharing general experiences with the game itself. Hopefully you guys enjoy this, I really suggest giving this one a go, while a lot of you are probably new to gaming and haven't experienced where rugby league games have come from, and might not see what the fuss is about, us grizzled veterans of league games I hope will appreciate this one quite a bit ![]() So enjoy! And if you haven't already, perhaps give my site a bit of a going over while your there, I assure you you wont be disappointed, unless you expect garish colour schemes and piles of regurgitated info, in which case you will be. |

About the game. I suggest for people that when loading it, to switch the Display Options to fullscreen. I couldn't get it to work in a windowed mode, and also, you should let it load instead of thinking (like I did) that it isn't working. Took about 5 minutes for it to load for me to get to the second screen, and then about 4 to go past the second into the game proper (and then it goes through everything else smoothly and quickly). This may be because i'm using an older computer (PII-350mhz), but still, just let it load.
Heres what I commented in the other thread: Quote:

Knowing Hamil he probably took offense to my tongue in cheek jibes at his website...
URLM I have the demos, just give me a day and they'll be up on my site. In the meantime I'd give Priddo's game a try, well, I would, but it doesn't run for me. You guys might have better luck. http://www.nrlmanager.sonnexh.com/ It's along similar lines but isn't as 'dead' as URLM seems to be. I wouldn't get too excited about URLM, its fun, but its hardly a revolution. Rugby League Coach is a better game. Has anybody actually got Rugby League Coach yet? Any problems getting it running, any luck figuring out just exactly what you have to do? That's what this is all about, URLM has been discussed before, and give me a day or so, and it'll be up on the site. There is a link somewhere around here to download it, but you'll have to search that yourself, I can't remember it off the top of my head. |

NRL Manager is a homebrew game, its made not for profit, so when its finished, it will be available to download for free. I've tried to get it running on three different computers without success, a mate has got it running though, so it does work.
There is surprisingly little talk about Rugby League Coach though, what do people think? Don't be put off by the load times, that's just how the Amiga was, it was very slow. |

Alright URLM Demo 2 is up on my site, the URLM page its easy enough to find, can't find the first demo on my hard drive unfortunately, but the second one is superior in pretty much every way anyhow.

NRL Manager, like Gol has said, is a free game and when completed, will be available for download from their website. The reason only a demo is there is because it isn't finished yet. |

With Rugby Coach, you need to have a floppy disk in your floppy drive to be able to save.

Tried that, click on save and (eventually, god this game is slow) it comes up with a message saying Disk Full, there's nothing on the disk though, so it can't be. Is there soem sort of configuration setting I need to change, I followed Gol's instructions to the letter.
